Membership Renewal Download the Renewal form here. Beginning April 2006, each practitioner member of the Feng Shui Institute of the Midwest (FSIM) will be required to fulfill six continuing education units annually to satisfy the qualifications of being a practitioner member of FSIM. These continuing education units are acquired from a Feng Shui related course, lecture or workshop, taught by someone other than yourself. Each hour of class attended translates into one continuing education hour. If you attend a two-hour class on "Feng Shui and Clutter" or an "Introduction to Feng Shui," then that is equal to two renewal hours. Each FSIM meeting is worth 1.5 hours. If you attend a two-day workshop with Professor Lin, a four-day training with Roger Green or attend a Feng Shui Conference, all of your requirements would be fulfilled from that event alone. There may be some topics that might be Feng Shui-related yet are not directly Feng Shui, but which you nevertheless feel are important in your work as a Feng Shui practitioner - a class on taiqi, dowsing, breath-work, etc. You can use those but FSIM asks that you supply a short explanation supporting your attendance. Please note that by attending all four FSIM meetings provided during the year, you will meet your continuing education units and will not have incurred any added expense, since your membership in FSIM enables you to attend the meetings at no extra cost (except for the $9 charge all members pay at the January annual meeting). The FSIM web page (www.fsim.org) lists classes and events that are being taught by members throughout the area. Even though you may feel the classes being offered are too basic or will not provide you with any new information, please be reminded of the value of review. These classes can serve as a valuable refresher. Carole will also be offering a one hour phone or internet discussion forum on a regular basis for your convenience and for those who are not local. The 12-month period during which you will accumulate the continuing education units begins on your next individual membership renewal date. If your renewal fee is due in June, then you will need to acquire the six continuing education hours before your renewal fee is due the following June. Continuing education credits cannot be carried forward from one year to the next. A 30-day grace period may be offered if you have not completed your required continuing education units by your renewal time. If your membership should expire without the completion of the six continuing education units, you may renew as a "Friend" of FSIM for a fee of $54. This category does not qualify you as a recognized practitioner but does enable you to participate in the meetings and offer your continued support to the organization. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the program, please contact Lisa McCue, FSIM Membership Coordinator, 612-202-2231, or Carole Hyder, President FSIM, 612-823-5093.
